Jason Barnes

Jason is a commercial lines producer for Downey and Company.  Prior to joining Downey, Jason has spent his entire career in commercial insurance, specifically focused on various underwriting roles for insurance carriers. He spent the majority of his underwriting tenure locally with Mountain States Insurance Group where he concentrated on a wide range of industries including contracting, oil and gas, manufacturing, and various retail industries.  Additional experience includes time spent at an Insurtech startup and the head of underwriting for a worker’s compensation carrier. Given his extensive experience across multiple levels of various carrier entities, he is able to provide a prospective and knowledge level to help expedite the ease of doing business when working with our carrier partners.  Jason is a life-long New Mexico resident and received his degree in finance from UNM at the Anderson School of Management
